Monday 3/23 Update

Good afternoon, Malden. It’s us, your friendly neighborhood Admins! We are continuing to get excellent responses from the community and adding more members and volunteers to our group. We have at the moment 117 volunteers offering to provide services to those who need them. Here is a snapshot of the status of services requested by individuals in our community and how they are being processed as of now:

  • Number of individuals seeking help: 12
  • Number of help requests in progress: 9
  • Number of help requests completed:2

In addition to individuals, we are continuing to connect with other community groups and organizations who need help and are working very hard to prepare Malden for whatever comes our way. Here are some ways you can take action to make a difference today:

ACTION ITEM 1: Governor Baker issues ‘Stay-at-home-order’ to slow the spread of Coronavirus

https://whdh.com/news/baker-issues-stay-at-home-order-to-slow-spread-of-coronavirus

We encourage each of you to familiarize yourselves with the Governor’s orders, let your friends and family know about them, and encourage them to comply so we can reduce the spread of Covid-19.

ACTION ITEM 2: Donations to Hospitals and Local Senior Care Facilities

We are aware of at least one local senior care facility, Dexter House, is in need of masks, hand sanitizer, and bleach. If you are able to help with this immediate need, please get in touch with one of the Admins directly, so we can coordinate delivery/drop-off!

Hospitals have made a central hub for collecting masks, gloves, goggles, thermometers, medical supplies, test kit supplies, and more. If you know people in construction, contracting, auto repair, biotech research, lab techs, art, veterinary, etc. please have them review the supply list and then fill out and submit the form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TVP69NJ?fbclid=IwAR04KgBv0Q9xuZXfwOXZ__tVvWkwPsYCiw_hBC5pXeie0Xk9ij1jGVda3Xw

ACTION ITEM 3: Sewing Masks

Have a sewing machine? Mask shortages are so severe that hospitals and nursing facilities are now looking for volunteers to produce cloth masks. Please use this CHA-approved mask sewing pattern: https://www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/?fbclid=IwAR3VJFwR1vbRxsdByva1ueZyrLwAZDRQ5k27h48BjQNwYKEmkr2JDNrK3Sg
