Good evening, Malden. It’s us, your friendly neighborhood Admins! A HUGE thank-you to every single member of the community who has stepped up and volunteered to help their neighbors. Many volunteers are teachers, working-from-home, and some are in need themselves but also want to help others. We continue to be inspired by the response, and want to remind every one of you not to forget self-care during this crisis with 3 ways you can be a little kinder to yourself:
ACTION ITEM 1: Get in Touch With the People You Love
Whether you have family near or far, it may not be possible to see them right now or for a while to come. So whether you’re Calling, Texting, or using Video Conferencing Services like Zoom, now is a great time to reach out to the people you love and connect (virtually).
ACTION ITEM 2: Do Something that Feels Creative and Fun
Break out your adult coloring books! Write haikus about your day! Dress up for dinner! TikTok your heart out! Build a pillow fort and camp in the living room! Whatever you do: laugh, be a little bit silly, and don’t you dare feel guilty about it.
ACTION ITEM 3: Breathe, Stretch, and Sleep
This is a stressful time for everyone, and you may not realize the toll it’s taking on your body. Reminding yourself to breathe and stretching your muscles throughout the day will help with fatigue. If you have an internet-connected device, you can check out free yoga videos on YouTube or give a mindfulness practice a try with one of these apps. And don’t forget to get some solid sleep!
